One Look
03:07
|
|||
One look at that smile and it’s all over
One flick of the wrist and then I’m gone
Though you know what to think of me,
I’m not sure what I think of you
And the colors show
One word off his lips and I’m enchanted
Got no need to worry till he’s gone
But those memories teasing me,
show me how I have come to believe
And they keep me warm
Ooo-Aaaa-oooo-Aaa
I have seen right through ya
And it’s no surprise you know
But I’m young - can’t see straight
Tell me what do I say
When you tell me that I look beautiful?
One look at that smile and it’s all over [One look at that smile..]
One flick of the wrist and then I’m gone [One flick of the wrist…]
[There’s no need to/ Should I] Say what I have felt and make amends?
One look at that smile and it’s all over
[Here I go again without time to make amends]
[Ooo-Aaa–oooo– Aaa, I have seen right through ya]
One flick of the wrist and then I’m gone
[Heart is pounding like a drum]
One word off his lips and I’m enchanted
[Feels like vertigo getting ready for the show]
[Ooo-Aaaa-ooo-Aaa]
He told me that I looked -
I looked beautiful

Interlude I.
01:36
|
|||
You looked my way…
Yes you did,
I could tell by your curls
How they bounced
From the force of you turning away..
while your friend made the
awful mistake
of staring.
Your sudden smile
And a door
has been unlocked once more
And I know that you ain’t
With your girl anymore
All the planets aligned
Is it time, now
To fall…?
And what if it's true?
What if we only last
For a minute or two?
To fall… ready or not?
What if we’re meant to be?
What if we’re not?
What if we’re -

Love, What Do We Do Now?
04:18
|
|||
Love, what did I do now?
Was my smile spent a bit too freely?
Hands beckon us to dance… you freeze.
Words they cycle: black, white, red.
I am spinning out;
the waves have come to
take us over - a
summer storm
taking breath out of
wanting to be
only yours…
Love in our garden grows
on its own - sleeps in every plant,
each flower but to
you, love can
only be
a rose…
Words they cycle: black, white, red.
I am spinning out;
you fall into the
wrong conclusions -
a summer storm
taking breath out of
wanting to be…
wanting to be…

Interlude II.
01:32
|
|||
A simple cabin hushed by snow
One two three steps
To the door
A pause…
Silence
That muffled ear drum silence
“You’re ignoring my calls” silence
Trapped on arrival silence
Waking up alone silence
Snowy cabin silence,
where a young girl dreams
and a young man wonders
and mismatched ideas clump
together in hopes love just /fixes/ itself
like in the movies
A guilty silence ,
where loose car change
gets dusted off and spent
on a latte you drive
one hour to find.
But in winter
Nature’s silence laughs
at movies, coffee, and failed expectations -
laughs loudly at lessons
learned from cabin DVDs,
As if humans can build
without ever destroying
As if humans create
without really trying
As if humans can change
without ever forgiving
without silence -
that things didn’t work out the
first time child,
winds chuckle through snow drifts,
doesn’t mean they never will.

Don’t be sad
I should’ve seen it coming
Your hands were clenched together
to keep you whole
Two hours late
Our coffee cold
Should’ve known better - it’s
happened before
We didn’t know…
that everything’s fine
until it’s not;
dusting off books that hold
everything we are
and one day hoped we’d be.
Don’t leave me -
I choke the words and swallow.
Your heart’s now prepped for battles
that don’t need me
Still kept the light;
few calls a year
You only responded when there was
no one else there
How could I’ve known?
Thought everything’s fine
but it was not
Left with the puzzle of
everything we are,
and everything we’re not…
Will you get better when I stop pining?
[Instrumental break]
Everything we are… and everything we’re not
I’ll leave it to the stars
Leave you with your heart to mend
Heart to mend…
Still I’m glad you called that night
And I pray you’ll be alright

When a Crow Cries
03:49
|
|||
I am not a stranger to this face
and memories of a lifetime:
hours spent on books that postulate
how cowards meet their end…
and did you know that whenever a crow cries
someone dies?
Why was it you?
All the clocks we set are rarely right:
they tick on at their own pace.
I try to tell myself I filled your days
with loving endlessly,
though as it stands I’ll never know
what else I could’ve tried…
Round and round it goes
We say there’s nothing to be said
And yet it shows -
I thought I heard your voice again.
I am not a stranger to this pain
And metaphors where it hides:
resting within long extended frames,
I let it come to light
If not for pain I’d soon forget
the world you’d occupied…
and so its held,
so its held, held, held, held
Round and round we go
They say there’s nothing to be said
And yet it shows -
They say it’s better to move past,
And yet it grows -
I wish that I could see you again…
Round and round it goes
They say there’s nothing we could say
And yet it shows -
They say it’s better to move past,
And yet it grows -
You’ll always be a part of -
You’ll always be beside me in everything -
Ah… aren’t we all a little lonely?
Ah… aren’t we all a little lonely?
Aren’t we all a little lonely?

Interlude III.

Drift Off
04:41
|
|||
When the sun sets
on a calloused day
And even Facebook has nothing new left to say…
That’s when I feel it.
On a hell hot night,
with a varnish fade,
Whiskey and cigarettes beckon -
that broken cliche
But I know
It would hurt you
So I don’t
It would hurt you…
So into the trash they go
In an online forum, there’s a great debate:
Who wears the pants honey?
Who suffers more each day?
As if it matters.
Dated thoughts aside, if the person’s right
All other choices will pale to
the promise you’ve made
To love in all
Love in harshness.
and in truth.
Burn complacence.
Love myself.
Love you.
Everything’s gonna be alright
Leave all your burdens till daylight
Come kiss your lover goodnight
Feel the weight of your little life
Drift off with the tide.
****
When its been years without want of change
Sometimes the miniscule threatens a crack in the
Clay - and sometimes we break
Bring out golden foil; give your heart a day
Cracks are not canyons
They mend and leave stories to
Say - our story took place
Everything’s gonna be alright
Leave all your burdens till daylight
Come kiss your lover goodnight
Feel the weight of your little life
Drift off with the tide
Drift off with the tide…

Interlude IV.
01:09
|
|||
Counting down the days,
the hours,
the minutes
till I see you.
How long has it been, my dear?
Eternity, two hours, a week?
In this world that’s constantly spinning,
In this world with instant access,
people are robbed of the patience of waiting.
A raindrop falls on my windowpane;
A new star cycles though another day;
invisible threads link my phone to my fingers
sparking neurons filled with fomo and desires -
Maybe I do need to take 5 away from this place.
Maybe I ought to finish more of what I’ve started
But in this world of heightened senses,
quickened emotions,
assumed pretensions,
I still need you.
You are my axis -
both my weakness and the
strongest force to ever
pull me
(into its arms).

Andrew
03:55
|
|||
Chocolate eyes
Stoic smile
What are you doing out there
Come inside
Drop a line
Always got time to want you
By my side
Cuz the way you tease right now
Makes me want to take my chances
We could run off indefinitely
if you just say the word
Andrew!
We’re in the high life now
Prefrontal cortex is as big as it’ll be
Andrew!
Don’t stop and wonder how -
Will you marry me?
Will you marry me?
You will marry me.
Later on, down the line
We’ll find ourselves a place to
Live our lives
But for now - damn it all!
Let’s set up dominos and see
Where they fall
Cuz the way you hold me tight
Makes me want to be romantic
We could stay young forever you see
With a just a little vow
Andrew!
We’re in the high life now
Prefrontal cortex is as anything
Andrew!
Don’t stop and wonder how -
Will you marry me?
Will you marry me?
You will marry me.
Instrumental
Andrew,
Look how the stars come out
There’s no one else around
As far as I (eye) can see
Andrew,
You know the question now…
Marry me…
Will you marry me…?
Will you marry me…?
You will marry me.

Bird of a Feather
04:04
|
|||
Everytime we get together
It don’t matter the sunshine or
Stormy weather babe -
You make my day better
You know what they say about
Birds of a feather: they
Never stray,
but even if
we somehow do…
I’ll find my way back.
(knock-knock)
Who’s knocking at my door?
(Oh God)
It’s her - that same old
terrible person
that I can be.
(Be cool)
Too hot to let things go,
but when I’m finally home
the first words you say
send the clouds away.
I don’t care what people say:
“C’est la vrai amour!”
That old cliche
All my worries they
seem smaller when you’re
with me.
And when we fight on rainy days,
I know that the sun
ain’t too far away
Everything I do, I do
I doobie doobie do
leads back to you
*Solo!*
Mama would like him to be 6 ft 7;
Daddy says he understood me better
when I wasn’t dating;
brother scoffs, a little hating;
The neighbors - they’re all know-it-alls;
but grandma don’t care
as long as we have
babies…
Everytime we get together
It don’t matter the sunshine or
Stormy weather babe -
You make my day better
You know what they say about
Birds of a feather: they
Never stray,
But even if
we somehow do…
I’ll find my way back.
I’ll find my way back to you.
